FEM brings Benefits

Today, the impressive advantages of ceramic components can be optimized with the help of finite elements method (FEM). This process makes it possible to calculate tension distribution and brittleness in components of various complexity. The ideal combination of materials and structural reliability (mechanical or thermal) can now be determined prior to production.
The Finite Elements Method calculation

The FEM produces a numerical representation of the stress distribution across a component reduced to its smallest elements. The calculation process depends on the complexity of the application. The resistance of the ceramics is approximated by a fracture strength factor determined through a Weibull distribution. It is also possible to predict fracture strength probabilities for components of any shape. This allows the optimized design of components for use in the most complex conditions of wear and stress.

These processes can be applied in metal-working tools, cylinders, standpipes, and screws. Materials joining techniques such as shrinking, bolting, adhesion, and soldering can also be calculated by FEM.
