Ongoing Optimization of Product and Process

Customer specific solutions are created by H.C. Starck Ceramics in our own department for product and process development. Our main tasks are continuing dialogue with our customers, the development of new products and continued efforts to optimize existing processes.

Tests and experiments carried out in combination with materials production in our own service laboratory ensure that our products are always up to the highest standards. We have experienced specialists in:
> Process technology
> Process development and sintering technology
> Machine component development using FEM (finite elements method)
> Materials and product development

An example of this is the development of ceramic screws for extruder technology.
Through FEM calculations at the beginning of the development process in association with optimized materials and sintering, we are now able to offer screws up to 1500 mm long.
The material assessment necessary for quality control is carried out in our own wellequipped service laboratory. Here, we collect physical and mechanical materials data, and also carry out complete chemical analyses using the most up-to-date equipment. For structural analysis, we use a scanning electron microscope.
