Dense sintered silicon carbide materials are characterized by good strengths up to very high temperatures, high hardness, high thermal conductivity and wear, corrosion and oxidation resistance. The  tribological behaviour in applications such as mechanical seals, pumps and mixers is exceptional. Due to its corrosion resistance SSiC is used in nearly all acids and leaching environments.
